With the questions what is literature? and what is a literature? in the background, this course focuses on the texts and agents involved in literary translation into and out of Taiwan and the larger Sinophone sphere from the late Qing to today. Through a series of weekly readings, we will learn methodologies and theories to apply to our own inquiries, and also on a weekly basis we will work on the different genres of translation, as listed in the course schedule.
